I'm not sure I agree that no development has taken place. Bad development is still development after all. It's also (in my opinion) not like these characters are acting outside of their dispositions. I think it's likely that this current situation will be resolved and we will actually see some propper adjusting and developing between the characters. That being said, this sort of stunt in positive development is not unique to this story and happens often in this genre. What determines whether or not it's worth sitting through is the outcome. It's obviously too soon to tell, but I'm hoping the situation has a worthy outcome.
