Why should she kill herself? Both the sick kid, and the nun who asked "is the war going to start?" Were a manipulation/deception...plus he has hinted her brother is alive. She isn't still being tortured...and it isn't like she favors one side or the other. Heck, she may find out her home wasn't attacked by whom she thinks.
Just why suicide? Especially since she doesn't believe in an afterlife. Life is so precious. People in the most miserable circumstances want to survive. And live.

Same thing with those webcomic troupes where women kill themselves after being "dishonored/assaulted." It is a horrible thing. It is terrfying. You may want to die for a minute....BUT THE PUBLIC PRESSURE to kill yourself to protect your purity? Such scum! Even the famous "virtuous ideal woman," whom kills herself because her in laws want to sell her off to a new man...she kills herself not to dishonor her dead husband.. I don't like the modern idea of "omg the patriarchy." But the whole "kill yourself to protect your honor." Is messed up.
Honestly a lot of those women were likely lynchec/honor killed like what happens in some disgusting sects of religion and cultures.
Yes this likely ML is a super douche. I'll likely never to full heartedly ship him with this MC, unless he ends up sacraficing something... maybe... But, this story is very very unique.
It is nice that we have a scum ML...but the nice part is that he isn't hypocritical. He doesn't think he is good or justified...he is just trying to reach goals. But the best part is that the FL isn't obsessed and loving no matter how much she is beat. That type of main character is horrible. But this story is nice cause unique. No stepsister/stepmom. No misunderstanding where the ML beats and abuses you and the MC just takes it cause "love." Where after years of abuse that could be jail sentence level domestic abuse...the ML "loses the MC.," and then he realizes he misses her....and so he takes the MC on as a side chick to his "true love..." eventually finding out it was all a misunderstanding and the beaten woman is his love. -__-
I was so tired of that plot. So I hope this novel has an interesting plot. Hell I'll even be more happy if there is no shipping and no romance. That she finishes her spy career and eventually marries someone with no connection to the story. Would be realistic and amazing! Ofc it won't happen but... xD
If anyone reads this essay of me complaining...if you have any recommendations of any unique manga/manhua/mahwa/webtoons or novels.. please reply in this convo or message me in some way. I have found a few I was enjoying...but they end up not having an end, or turning into the same old cliche. Tbh I really hope that we only get exposed to a small amount of Chinese/korean/japanese media...especially because the Chinese media (comics/webnovels) that I end up reading...omfg it is so annoying how much is literally like ripoffs of eachother. So I really hope that is just because translators just post the same cliches. If that is how the whole nations tastes are... then damn that is concerning!

1.) If what I did was being an idiot like her who ate the obviously drugged food that is laid out and passed out a couple of times then yes I would've killed myself because it's tiring being an idiot.
2) Why suicide? Why not! It's one of the options, which she did not thought of. Suicide has nothing to do with being religious or not. That's why people kill themselves because their life is over, nothing more to think about.
And if I were to choose to live, I wouldn't eat the obviously drugged or poisoned food that's laid out in front of me. Find a way to get out of that room. Although it'll be useless.

MC for me is too typical. Not going to lie. Everything about her screams typical MC who will catch the eye of the ML because of her fierce attitude out of nowhere. Already cliche!

Also I HATE most chinese comics because it is such a cookie cutter of popular stories, so I really can't recommend you anything chines except for here for you and 10 years where I lived you the most(these are yaoi btw) I'm a fan of novels mostly action and it's better to have NO romantic interest at all... And if by chance you are interested I recommend reading is Dungeon predator.
