the magic was the cause of him going back, since he was the contractor he went back in time and not Noel.. and her mom paid the price by losing her powers after granting the dukes wish.
And I'm guessing the extras will explain why Noel accepted the dukes proposal this time, since he's so in love with her.. he must've done a lot to make her fall in love HAHA
