I m pretty sure Janet knew by instinct that Henry loved her husband Tom, but coped with it thinking Tom only had eyes for her. But in reality Tom must have also grown feelings for Henry which he realised after Henry kissed him.And that's why he ran away from home and faked his death since he couldn't face his wife Janet anymore ╮(￣▽￣)╭
