Tears and love and all the feels in between

This was a bittersweet story that dealt with some complex issues in a mature manner. Paediatrician Nakamichi sensei was in an adulterous relationship with his married mentor who died in the beginning of the story. I hate cheaters so feeling empathy for the grieving man shows how skilful the mangaka was with establishing that relationship. Tsutsumi knew of his fathers affair and was very hostile towards Nakamichi when he joined the hospital as an intern. However, he softened towards the grieving paediatrician as he worked with him and saw the kindness in his fathers lover. And the loneliness. These two falling for each other took time because Nakamichi kept the younger man at a distance while he focused on moving through his grief. I appreciated that he dealt with things, took control of his life and regained his smile without needing Tsutsumi. If he hadn’t done that, I would have struggled with the thought that Tsutsumi was merely a replacement for his father. It’s important to be happy and healthy in yourself to offer the best you have to someone you love, especially when it’s a tangled romance such as this. By the end of this manga, the two MCs gave the feeling of fated mates or destined lovers. It was beautiful (though I would have loved to have had some sexy scenes between them) and the ending left me with no doubts that these two would have a wonderful life together in their busy little rural hospital.
