Yeah, murder is one of those absolutes in that there's no turning back after the deed, so seeing the MC choose to kill feels like a cheat. It's always a more interesting plot when the villain self-destructs.
I agree, it was just weird. Here she says she chooses her own fate, but yet she believes only one can live so she just shoots her??

I think it's not enough. Because OG Rae was originally supposed to die anyway. It was against the law of nature, if you could call it. That was why the witch (?) says to kill the brunette (OG Rae), because if OG Rae doesn't die, New Rae would. Which is not something that is supposed to happen because she (New Rae) was supposed to be the new Beatrice.
actually Rae doesn't know that there is proof that would absolve her, and if the original Rae's soul is still around then our Rae's soul would continue rejecting her body until one of them dies. also if her soul continues to reject her body she will die because of it.
That kind of felt... wrong. I can understand the original Realiana (now Beatrice) for being so desperate to kill her (it's kill or be killed, like the dark mage told her). I can totally relate to that (her sick mindset, her determination to go through with it, even her short hesitation, because murder is a heavy thing to do), but our MC didn't really go through that whole process. She decided to kill her and did it in like 2 seconds... Yes, she saw that vision of the mage talking to Beatrice, but still... no hesitation. I don't know, felt wrong.
