Think of it as training- you are learning a life skill. I have a job now and there are still people who spend money a bit too extravagantly, or unwisely, for my taste. Learning how to manage money is a skill that must be acquired early. :D
My mom gives me allowance that is more than I need but I lived my uni life as if I only have enough for the week. It was tough but looking at your savings was satisfying.

They don't think about the future. They spend as if money if picked off of the tree. I like being cautious. So that if I got into an accident (not that I wish I will get into one) or need my emergency money I can take em from my savings(▰˘◡˘▰)

I don't know why uni students don't understand the value of money. I mean I'm a uni student as well but I'm cheapskate as hell and try searching for the best and cheapest. But my friends who are not as well off as I am ( not saying I'm rich but I can afford something a bit more expensive but I choose not to) they willingly spend more for something that they can get better for cheaper.
