Watched the film to see how the author's distinctive Aubrey Beardsley style art could be translated into real people and environments. It was good, some aspects of the plot were changed and the sexualizing of the high school girlfriend was uncomfortable, that should have been toned down/replaced just like the gang rape scene and sex scenes between the MC's were.

Yoneda Kou's work "No touching at all" has also made into a film, and that too had the more graphic "adult" scenes removed. On the whole I feel this was a good decision, actors are real people at the end of the day, and these adaptions are not porn films. It makes you think, in the wake of the Weinstein scandal how the boundaries between porn and drama films have been blurred in Hollywood and how so many (women mostly) actors regret feeling pressured into nude or sex scenes because they feel that's the only way to get an acting career.

On the whole, it was a good plot, stylish and modern aesthetic with both characters exhibiting their flawed behaviour as seen in the manga. Minus points for the teenage sex scene, but good that they missed out most of the adult sex scenes which work fine for manga, but not great when concerning real people.
