Not sure, but, maybe the "waka" you mentioned is meant to be young master (the heir of the boss; the kanji of "waka (若)" literally means 'young").. The mafia boss is called oyabun, as I know.. Btw, I'm referencing on manga., so maybe it's totally wrong.. hehe
