This manga didn't explain much of their background and setting but it's realistic to say that that was all it is about. It is about them and nothing else. Forget about the parents, forget about the vampires, forget about the village and everything else, time for them will come when they will have to face it but we are only given this glimpse of their reality.

However, because of Mitsuru, he has chosen to be happy with him.. even for just a moment. For this little moment until time will decide for them to part, he chose to be with the person he loves.
