The manga I'm looking for isn't a shoujo manga, rather it's predominantly yaoi/shounen-ai, which is why I found the one story being from a girl's point of view so unique. It was sad because, though both the main character and the classmate were harboring unrequited feelings for the same person, the girl felt her classmate's love for the popular guy was more real/pure than her own feelings of love, but he would never be able to confess, even though she'd grown to accept him as her rival. No one gets the guy in the end though...
It was just one chapter long in a collection of other yaoi stories, but I can't remember the title or the artist ╥﹏╥

The last line in your description helped me remember. It's also the fact that i found really adorable about this manga.
It was a collection of short stories one of which was from the p.o.v of a girl who had a crush on a popular guy, but discovered an introverted male classmate was also in love with her crush. The male classmate would listen to recordings of the classroom noise and would blush whenever the popular guy's voice came on. Any ideas? (=・ω・=)
