ok, I just wanted to say that I feel bad for Khaol. His whole life he was lonely, the person he loved the most was taken away, family killed. he was tortured, instead of dying gods decided to have pity on him and granted him life full of misery and power. all these 1500+ years he was striving trying to find a way to see and hold his lover but he could not. later on he decided that he must stop this hatred towards humans and Rivers family but this bitch (im sorry for my french) manipulated him by telling him that if he listens to her, she will bring his loved one back (but im so fckn sure she knew what Kwhateverurnameis existence on earth is going to bring him only sadness).
Yes, he did many mistakes: instead of treating River right he was bringing pain into the boys life. yet, he knew this would happen. Khaol even mentioned to River that he doesn't deserve him and his kindness. I think that the day everything crushed Khaol knew he couln't do anything to save him. everything was planned long before Rivers birth. I also believe that Khaol didn't do anything because he knew he had no power over his so called friend. so now lets see the whole picture... I really believe that Khaol didn't help River not only bc this way his lover would return to him bit also bc he could've done nothing to save him.
moving on to the last words of Khaol at ch 73. I think he starts to understand how selfish of him it was to try and bring his lover back. he finally understood that it was time to let go of your past, move on. he is feeling miserable, lonely, sad, angry. even though he still loves K (DONT REMEMBER HIS NAME HAHA) Khaol misses River. this boy became someone really special to him. I feel like he regrets everything that has happened and he will try to find a way to solve it. maybe (well this story is about him and River actually so they are supposed to be together in the end) River will see how much he is striving and trying to apologise and start to catch feelings for him again since he will see the real god of pain...
by all of this I just wanted to say that you should at least try to look at all the situation from Khaols perspective. this man has been through much pain, he suffered a lot. he sure made some big mistakes but he will do everything to make things go back to normal. so lets hope that everything is going to be really good. River will forgive Khaol (since i ship those 2( and start cstching feelings for him again) lots of theories are in my head rn), this nature goddess will die the worst death possible, H happy with someone else (sorry not sorry) and Khaol finally letting his first lover go and finally fully opening up to River.
The truth is, I feel the same way you do and all but Khaol should NEVER have taken River to that secret meeting knowing he might die.
Also, even if he didn’t succeed in saving River, he should have at least tried and River wouldn’t have blamed him because he knows he tried, but he LET him die.
I’m really sad and heartbroken for Khaol because I have a soft spot for him. I personally do not ship Heil with River but I’d rather River end up with neither of them cos Khaol doesn’t deserve him either.
Finally, the author clearly said she changed her mind and wants to make Heil and River the endgame, which I think is unfair as I was deceived into shipping him with Khaol in the first place and I NEVER jump ship in a story, so I’m sad.
It’s a little hard to read this story as it makes me want to cry sometimes and it breaks my heart, but what else can I do?
hey uploader!
