She's a pureblood noble and used to be the Sheleg's family heir before Ian came along and got their father to recognize him as his, even tho he is an illegitimate child and a former servant. So from her pov he isn't even born noble and came in and stole her role and position in the castle. Plus there's more stuff that hasn't been revealed yet.
I’d be pissed off too if I was a competent woman who had my position (which I’d been working for my whole life) taken by a man just because of his gender. (They both seem equally competent, the only difference in this case is gender)
Yeah but Katya was 10 yo when Ian came to the castle, so she was quite young, but she had been raised to be the next heir and then her half brother came in and took that role just because he was a man. But this is only one of the motivations for her resentment against her brother. She does love him too deep down. It's quite complicated.

Ian had an indirect hand in Katya's parent's deaths, Katya also found Ian in bed with her mother (Ian's stepmother and the duke's wife). Basically as soon as Ian showed up Katya's whole life changed radically for the worse, it's not a surprise if she blames him for everything, even tho her parents were bad people too. The father especially was a bastard responsible for Ian's mother's death, he abandoned Ian to a life of struggle, poverty and abuse and Katya's mother used Ian to get back at her cheating husband because he looked just like him when he was younger. Also Ian gaslighted Katya and made her doubt everything that happened when she was younger and made her look like a crazy woman.
Right makes a lot of sense! It’s sad bcs she genuinely seems to care for him and wish she could have a normal sibling relationship with him especially how she likes to annoy him and get his attention :’(((

She does care about him because he's the only remaining member of her family and Katya is really attached to the idea of family. Ian keeps threatening her position in the castle and she tries to make herself necessary to ensure he wouldn't be able to manage the castle without her, in a way she tries to keep a bit of power to not succumb to her brother domineering presence.
Tbh I really understand her and feel for her, especially as a woman who tries to keep her role and independence against a powerful man, she's such a great and well written character and her actions, however controversial, are so understandable if you put yourself in her shoes a bit.
Oh damn, girl... Welp, the attitude is understandable when you stripped off your power and had to do everything to survive in the situation you were in. Ian also bares some fault as he always tries to antagonise their sibling relationship
