I feel like Kyouji can't leave the Yakuza even if he wanted to since he's basically the Boss's right hand man, so even if Satomi asks for it, he can't provide even though he gives Satomi literally anything he asks for. And he knows that so he gives the excuse of the Boss needing to die first to not leave Satomi with the impression that he's trapped to add more worries to his plate. He obviously worries about Satomi's safety a lot, if how he reacted to the drug addict in the prequel, and how he went after the writer who was making Satomi uncomfortable are any indication.
I'm hoping any death flags are Kyouji realizing that he has to fake his death in order to get out of the Yakuza to be with Satomi. The reunion of the Boss and his real son.. maybe it's leading to the son coming back to the family which would further allow Kyouji to slip away since he's semi acting as the Boss's proxy son? Hm
And Kyouji probably he put some security around Satomi. The way he gives things without even giving a smallest hint or without asking anything back is so goddamn romantic.
