Hi! I always wondered about the type of people that are reading yaoi and so when of the things that I thought of was religion. Which brings me to my question, Does anyone here consider themselves religious? and if so how do they feel about reading yaoi in terms of ethical code? (●'◡'●)ﾉ Sorry if I offended anyone by me question I am just curious (=・ω・=)
I'm religious but I see reading manga (including yaoi) as a hobby. Of course the smutty yaoi I more consider it as porn. Sure it's frowned upon but I don't act on it if you catch my drift. Its like watching a rated R movie that has sex scenes. It's a form of entertainment, something to pass time on etc.. I think it depends on what you're reading it for. You know? Everyone's different.
Nah it’s all good! I’m a Christian, and my particular sect is kind of pro-abstinence and anti-homosexuality, which obviously I don’t really conform to. My personal belief is that the doctrine of my sect is not inherently wrong in a lot of ways, but there are some aspects that I don’t agree with, homophobia being one of them. I think that even if I read yaoi, it doesn’t affect my church as a whole, and it’s my own personal decision. I also think in reading, I am engaging in neither aforementioned sin, so it’s (although not totally, at least partially) alright. I get that if I told anybody, I’d probably not be well-accepted, but a lot of religion is up for interpretation anyways (ex: substances, holiness of the sabbath, etc.). In summary, it’s not right, but it’s not wrong, either.
i am from Bangladesh. And people here are so negative about homosexuality, transgender people or in general they can’t go against the norm. It’s how they are used to. Our society and religious point of view doesn’t accept this. But i read yaoi and I have other friends who are into this. They are religious. We pray but it’s just we can accept and we understand this issue. Yaoi is mostly fictional but there are people who likes same gender exits .

I consider myself spiritual and I don't find any contrast with Yaoi.
I don't really consider myself religious but i go to religious school since elementary school (i'm a high schooler now). I think reading yaoi isn't good nor is it bad. I see yaoi as fiction and it doesn't really have an effect on my religious belief (?)
I'm Catholic but not that religious. When it comes down to it, I don't think too much. There's more problem to think than thinking about this (you know, the ideals, hypocrisy of the church and the corruption within the priest because let me tell you, our church here is quite annoying, there's one archbishop and one priest whom I still respect, you can include the current pope too cuz he's chill and cool). There's a lot of hypocrisy around the church and I rather not be bothered with it, I go what I believe, and let God judge (I know some doesn't believe in God but let me be alright?).
But when it comes to yaoi with religious content (still depends though on how they write and draw it,) I usually stay out most if because I might get damned, that's just me though (I also don't read where there's priest and demons involved together sexually, I feel something's not right and I feel guilty afterwards so I don't read them) and I'll say it again, that's just me
I know everybody wants them together, and they would make a good couple. But he knew her since she was a kid so he's like her dad and that's gross(〜￣△￣)〜 so I dont understand why people still want them to get together.
