Ch.1-57 are them in high school
Ch. 58-161 are a flashback to them in middle school

Actually I'm pretty sure that 1-57 are them as adults. Xhan is in college and Jian is going to high school since he disappeared. But that's just what I got out of it, I don't think we know for sure yet c:
