Joonghyuk does it on purpose for the sole reason to continue the scenario. They had a time limit to kill off kim dokja, that will turn into a demon king. And Dokja is the one who told them to kill him before he really became a demon king and kill everyone. So yeah It's forced. I was bawling my eyes out when i read that scene. But they all of them tried to kill KDJ, It's just that YJH that took the last blow.
All of Kimcoms did, and YJH did the final blow, so KDJ loves all of them (≧∀≦) but you can say YJH killed him (I love joongdok)
