You make such weird excuses for things that are clearly wrong and idealize the characters and the relationship between them way too much. To the point that I question your reading comprehension.
How some of y’all don’t recognize that Jin got drugged and raped by Matt? Sedatives ARE still drugs. And just because he had some noble reason to do so, doesn’t change the fact that he drugged him against his will. Sure, Matthew doesn’t know everything about Jin’s past, so he didn’t know just how hurtful it was to him and how huge of an emotional pain he caused him by doing so - but if you read the story, you should know just how fucking traumatic the whole drugged sex thing is to Jin and understand why it’s such a dealbreaker for him. He started to question the genuineness of their whole relationship. And also, consent is a thing that can be withdrawn at any moment during the act. An unconscious person cannot give consent and cannot withdraw it - hence, sex with an unconscious person is always non-consensual. Even if it’s between two lovers, and even if Jin woke up and was fine with being pounded in the ass - it still doesn’t change the fact that doing anything to the person that’s unconscious still means doing something that you can’t be sure the other person would be fine with. Jesus, yaoi fucks with people’s brains in some weird ways, they seem to forget what a healthy sexual relationship is and become rape advocates.
What I’m trying to say is - you may like the characters, you may like the dynamic between them and you may hope they get their happy ending BUT you should still recognize what’s wrong with their relationship. Don’t go around making excuses for things that are simply wrong, just because you’ve idealized the characters so much that you don’t want to acknowledge their faults.
I apologize for this rant, might have sounded a bit harsh. I’m obviously a BL reader myself and I don’t aim it at every single reader. It’s just that BL stories often have VERY dark themes and portray very toxic relationships - which is fine as long as the readers acknowledge it. But I’ve noticed that BL readers often normalize it instead and try to make excuses for things that shouldn’t be excused (not exclusive to BL ofc, but I think it happens more often). And I’m just way too tired of seeing it.
Anyways, released some of that steam cause our MCs are onto a very rocky path in their relationship it seems, and I’m STRESSING. Only proves how well-written story this is. Hope things will get resolved in a healthy and communicative way and not just brushed over. It all happened because they don’t understand each other and don’t communicate each other’s worries in the first place.
