I love this but the world building is so confusing. The shitty translation doesn’t help either. We were shown a map one time in 50+ chapters so they keep bringing up new places without ever explaining where those places are.
I’m genuinely devastated by this news :(( this was one of my favorite ongoing series and the art was one of the reasons
The ml has absolutely no presence and contributes nothing to the plot. You could completely remove his character and it would hardly affect the direction of the story.
Also this is one of those white savior stories and the darker skinned characters are just a bunch of different cultures clumsily stitched together. I couldn’t figure out if they were supposed to be Arabic or something else. They tossed in the thunderbird which is clearly Native American. It doesn’t make sense. And just casually throwing in slavery among other things.
The author clearly did bare bones research or none at all. That along with the fl constantly being referred to as “frail”. I feel like the author could at least have the decency to make her of age as well.
I don’t only have complaints though. There are a lot of aspects I do like. I like how strong willed the fl is and that she has a back bone. I love the art and that the older characters look their age while also being attractive and have their own back stories that aren’t just tossed together last minute. I just wish the POC characters weren’t written so thoughtlessly. It feels disrespectful to the people that those cultures were taken from.
