Okay, so first off. I really had some high expectations for this. Because I've read my fair share of trashy doormat FLs and that the very least, this manhwas FL had some character development going on and after the veils have parted and she was finally aware of who and what the prince really was as a person, she didn't try to defend him or his actions (not for too long anyways) and actually wanted to run away early on and hated him for his actions.
Like, legitimately hated him and even had a character growth of wanting to further express that hate (painting) and its actually realistically depicted. I've never seen a manhwa before where the doormat FL who after years of abuse, actually depicts how much hatred and animosity would stem from it till its having them think/fantasize of actually killing the abusive ML, let alone doing a reverse uno card and going full 'Ima manipulate you back' type of thinking.
So, I'll give the manga its due points for that. I still don't like how much of a doormat she is but AT LEAST she has some development going on.
What I can't ultimately forgive is if this manhwa ends up like every other manhwa and haves her forgive him and end up with him.
Because at this point in the Manhwa, the only correct endings are:
1. She kills him.
2. She escapes
3. She kills him and escapes.
4. She escapes and gets into a healthy relationship with someone.
5. She dies.
Because it is a sickening thought at this point, given how the ML is if it ends up with him still being the Endgame. He doesn't deserve it. Not one bit. Heck, as per depicted, death would be tolerable than his abusive ass as pet the FLs perspective which you can't even blame.
I know it's a hopeless dream to wish for this ending but I'm hoping this is the FIRST manhwa I read where she girlbosses and either kills him or leaves him.
The only reason I'm still reading this even though this is basically a trigger warning in Manhwa form is because it's no longer a disgusting cesspool of shallow fuckfest which included non con but now has a plot and because it now has a plot, there is hope that I can now cling to where he is saved by Cliff and gets revenge on all of them.
But if he actually ends up with his the ones that graped him, I will drop this like a hot potato and will advocate its downfall. Being a fuckfest alone where he was just graped constantly was not appealing in any way, it was just pitiful and heartbreaking.
And I feel like the author deliberately set it up that thw scenes wouldn't be enjoyable for him or the reader. But, that's just my theory. If they didn't, then I hope they don't make anymore Manhwas involving non con cuz its just stomach turning.
Yeah I agree. The first few times ppl can handle and keep reading but then it just turns into a noncon fuckfest where MC is just getting passed around like a fuck toy. Pitiful and heartbreaking.
But now that there's an actual plot, I just wanna see the MC get revenge on all of their Grapist asses and gtfo of that barren wasteland. Also the lore of their universe is pretty interesting and CLIFF DA BEST MAN.
I gotta be honest. I would've been more than happy if the author just went straight up yuri. Like, I wouldn't be shocked or mad. I'm ok with how things are going right now but because the author fully established Chloes character and relationship with Blair when he was still Chloe, it made me see the character as more Chloe than Claude. I most probably will get used to Claude but I can't say that I won't miss Chloe. And one more thing I gotta give my honest opinion about. (Tho this is just my opinion of course. Everyone has different tastes. Like how I like pineapple pizza but most don't and all that jazz)
I think Chloe is hotter than Chloe than as Claude. And that I find Chloe x Blair hotter than Claude x Blair.
My opinion of this mangas male characters can be accurately explained by a game of fuck, marry, kill.
Fuck Dion. Marry Cassis. And Kill her dad.
Fuck Dion (in a literal sense) because let's be real. Hes too bat shit crazy insane to keep for longer than a few hours of entertainment. He has substance as a character which makes him interesting and separates him from a cookie cutter villain yes, but he still has crazy, psychotic, incestuous bad guy substance.
I do highly appreciate the fact that the novel also accurately represents how in ye olde timey fantasy setting, they explain that incest isn't surprising cuz in real life history, it truly isn't. It's been viewed irl history by royal dynasties as a sad, wrongful and delusional way to 'preserve the purity of royal blood.' And I like that the novel incorporated that in a family that was already bat shit crazy to greater emphasize how twisted they are.
Marry Cassis because hes a pure, sweet guy and it's a refreshing contrast to Roxannes twisted world. Like, hes the 'endgame' for a reason and I love it. She has been living in a world filled with blood, murder, incest, distrust, hatred, schemes, etc. And this man that barges into her is a person she can let her guard down with. A person that was untainted with her twisted world despite seeing her twisted world himself. Hes not naive in the slightest but has somehow kept a certain purity in him that was most likely hard to keep as he readily trusted her and helped her despite seeing how she twisted she can be.
And of course. Just straight up kill her dad. End of story. Hes an asshole. Just straight up A grade assholery.
Currently loving this so far though my only beef with it is that it's not correctly categorized as sci fi and was put in supernatural instead cuz ive more than once searched through scifi, yaoi combo genre tags and there isn't a lot to rummage through. Also, another tiny beef I have is that, it is seems as though Lotus's 'down stairs area' is not as anatomically interesting or different from a male human peepee.
Oh, and at the very least, I'm hoping that there would be mentions of how different he is from humans whether its physical or cultural. Like, it would be interesting to read about his planets traditions and stuff.
I was truly hoping in trying to give another go but from the comments alone, it seems like this story is still a lost cause. Shes truly going for the prince bastard huh. Like, lemme get this straight. We were given, in the beginning of this story, a hopeful and new start to her life. A green and red haird cuties that ISN'T the same guy that abused her, an inspiring plan to become the head knight of her family just like her dad, and a SOLID PLAN TO AVOID AND NOT END UP WITH THE SAME GUY THAT ABUSED HER.
AND YET. She still somehow FALLS IN LOVE WITH THAT SAME GUY DESPITE TWO (mostly just one, cuz let's be honest. Vegetable hair is kinda iffy) POSSIBLE CANDIDATES FOR LOVE. Like, ffs. Ok, this isn't my first rodeo in these kinds of stories since I've read Palace of Bardo, God of Pains Bride, Killing Stalking, etc. I'm honestly open to these kinds of things AS LONG AS THEYRE WRITTEN WELL.
Cuz while reading this, I honestly asked myself "Why do I hate this more even though I've read stuff like Palace of Bardo?" And that's when it hit me. Its because of the way Palace of Bardo was written. And by that, I mean HE HATED his abuser. Like her, he knew about his past with the Emperor and tried to get away from him and obviously hated him. He also explicitly showed how he suffered under his hands and how traumatized he is
With Aristia, she was obviously scared of him but it didn't feel like he hated the man that did so much damage to her enough because a mere few chapters later , it's almost like she forgot her trauma and was suddenly buddy buddy with him. Palace of Bardo addresses what the emperor had done to him in way that feel grounded and realistic.
And it's just sad thinking that this couldve been better. Because I was so hopeful about this story. Now, this is obviously just my opinion on this story and if you're happy with Ruven ending up with Aristia, that's fine and I can understand that. Everyone has their own opinions after all. I mean, I like pineapple pizza but I know not everyone does and I respect that. It's just not their cup of tea.
But what I don't like is when people get angry at people who don't want Aristia and Ruven to get together without logical basis. It's bad that the author are getting death threats and I hope that people would stop doing stupid shit like that. But, it's also bad to just hate on people who are justifiably upset over a story that we had high hopes for. Most importantly when it was written in such a way that we would actually hope that she'd do better. Like, we seriously have valid arguments as to why we dont want them together from both a moral standpoint to a writing standpoint.
Tbh, I'm truly just disappointed rather than mad. I'm disappointed that this ended up the way it did because this had the chance to become something wonderful but ended up with such a bad ending. I imagined her being a powerful, strong woman who lives a whole new better life far from her previous one. It's just sad at this point.
I like the side couple more than the main couple because tbh, their dynamic is so damn refreshing. I don't often see mlm Alpha x Alpha pairs and yet in most A/B/O dynamic manga/manhwas I've read, a m/f Alpha x alpha relationship (usually the parents of the alpha or the omega) is there and obviously possible.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Don't return to being such a shallow fuckfest right after that cliff hanger where we got a fucking break from all of the assault happening.
PLEASE don't fucking go back directly into that after we see such a healthy amount of actual consent being practiced.
Because if he doesn't get a well deserved break or at least some progress on escaping them/veing saved, then the author deserves to have warm pillows every night, shoes wet while they have socks on, etc. For the rest of their life because wtf.
