I do really like Rufus as a ML. He's a tsundere in a fun way. You can tell that he truly has romantic feelings for her. I feel like most MLs in similar stories are tsundere in a mean way.
I'm going to be down voted to hell for this. I don't really hate the ML. That was a past life. In addition, all of them are just trying to survive the political hellscape. It's easy to look at their actions and say they should've done this or that, but it's another thing to be in middle of it all trying to stay afloat. I personally can't say I would've been to make different choices if I were in any of their shoes especially in their first life
