I’m not sure why ppl are upset…? if anything i interpreted Eiser words as him loving her so much to the point where he views Serena being married to him as a burden for HER and wants to grant her the freedom he feels she deserves, even if that means them not being married in the future..which is why he’s not making the promise or begging her to stay.
