But Rose never realised it I think, never put it into words, because Edgar only thought about his brother.
The chapters Edgar last where fee (don't know if the novel explains more) and the wish he has is for his brother and nothing else, not for himself. Rose doesn't want to give him eternal life to see how he spends it following his brother. That's how he fails to understand he is in love I guess, and he lost Edgar. I guess that's the main point.
Am I that lost?

The main character was a korean highschooler who got bullied a lot since she was little because she was fat and ugly (this is not me trying to shame her, this is just how it's protrayed), one day she basically she died because of a car crash(?), and after she died, she got reincarnated into a fantasy world where she became the daughter of a demon and an angel, her mom is an angel and her dad is king of demon. But her mom died while giving birth to her, and instead of blaming the died of his lover into her (the main character) her dad trying his best to be the to be the perfect dad ever. He tried how to how to care for her, how to bath her, how to feed her... basically, everything from the very little things from humans handle kids. Also, the main character can remember her last life, and that kind of make her to be a little bit more wiser and smarter than the average kid... well, she's not actually the "average" kid since she's half demon and half angel but she kind of looked more human, which is kind of weird. I also remember she has a dragon kin childhood friend.
