I'm SO glad Taesung did this even if it complicates things.

I don't know what it is, but most webtoons/manhwa/manga let the "antagonist" character get away with their shet, to the point that I was NOT expecting this. I physically felt my jaw drop. Usually the main couple act all nervous and shy away from harassment, but Taesung...good shet.

This is how you develop good drama. You don't let characters that are trying to interfere with your loved ones fester like this. Smart main leads are so incredibly rare in BL/yaoi webtoons that this was an absolute breath of fresh air.

Does anyone else know of other series/stories with a cast that can think on the spot like this? I would love to read them.

The art is clean and beautiful, the MC is relatively likeable, and the cast seems to expand steadily.

I feel a tad irked by the pacing because at times it's very filler content but then slight moments to remind you who she actually is. The writing feels imbalanced because there's very little progression as if the original purpose of the MC's "stay" in the human world is basically forgotten. Although it's early in the author's story, it's not the greatest take on "naive demon explores human world" so far.

Looking forward to what's in store, hopefully it can start becoming more interesting than filler comedy. Maybe a plot twist where the queen summons a demon herself and it's the MC's brother.

i rather like the filler comedy - it’s her first time with a contract so it makes sense how she’d be caught up with human activities.

i’m guessing the conflict will be fulfilling the contract itself (which will perhaps be in tandem with the romance?) cause if she DOES fulfill the contract, there’s several dubious things that could happen

also i’m hoping to see a little bit of plot progression in terms of the “angels” and so forth, because it’s been brought up quite a lot and i feel like it’d be interesting ( ̄へ ̄)

I would have never discovered this series if it wasn't scanlated.

I understand that it sucks to have your work spread around in this manner, but so many readers that enjoy the work would never have gotten to experience it if there weren't scanlation groups.

Torn on how I feel, especially because this author is working solo. Hope their wrist gets better.

MC doesn't deserve Cain. MC can just do he wants, Cain deserves better.

Hopefully we get backstory and clarification soon though.

Seeing how the author started off the series showing that the MC is naive and flawed, there's probably going to be a segment that completely destroys that mindset.

Hoping something happens in order to spur his character development. Based on the writing, the MC is stubborn and/or will likely be arrogant which is kinda unfortunate. Maybe seeing his own brother get murdered after his own mistake or something will cause him to actually grow a second brain cell.

Loving the concept and the setting, but the cast seems very bland so far.

These chapters are showing how MC fked up and put the ML in a bad position time after time. What a hilarious story.

A Wasted Cow January 7, 2021 9:29 pm

There was so little to work with despite this being 50 chapters.

If they took out 20 chapters, the story would be the exact same. A lot of the "content" were more or less fillers that were unnecessary. While I am absolutely happy the two got together and had a good ending, the author had poor writing.

There's nearly zero character development. We don't count Hawoon while he had amnesia as character development. What do you do when someone's being considerate to you when you are struggling in that scenario? You go along with them. Why? Because your options are limited. Obviously Wan wasn't doing it with bad intentions, but that's not character development. The only bit of character development was at the end when Hawoon decided to rebel against the toxic stepbrother, but that's it. The rest of the cast had no development. Wan is still timid, Suhhoo was more or less a complete side character who was introduced to make Hawoon jealous and that's IT, Bomi stayed the same to the end, and anyone else was more or less too insignificant to be given screentime.

This was more or less the same amount of content as your run of the mill six chapter yaoi/BL. Wish this came out a bit better, but it isn't a bad story, just wasn't that great either.

I want to like the story, but the seme's forceful actions are irksome. There's a lot of non-consensual parts which makes the MC anxious and even more insecure. Seme doesn't seem to show an understanding of the MC's perspective and seems to force him more often than not.

Since there are still chapters left, hope they actually go over this. It's obviously a culture difference between the two (one's half American acting flashy and the other is a country bumpkin), but some things need to be explicitly stated.

Hope they can turn this relationship into an actual wholesome one. If they don't, there are so many holes in the story like Kei's reaction to MC saying their female classmate who was a model is pretty. What Kei did after MC blocked or how he reacted. Or just anything to actually give us some sort of closure as readers.

MC is too much of a pushover, like dictionary definition of pushover.

Story is pretty much garbage, they got right to the smut and now it's essentially a threesome? We know MC gonna get spitroasted, but that's about it.

All in all, it feels incredibly lackluster for a webtoon. Somewhat invested since the artstyle is very clean and looks nice, but that's all this has going for it so far. The coloring and backgrounds remind me of Cherry Blossoms After Winter.

When I read through this the first time, I took the development at face value and missed out. Yes, cheating is wrong, communication is a must especially during marriage(s) at this stage.

However, the author has written quite a good story portraying how you can fall in love and fall out of love as well. After rereading the series' available chapters again, there's multiple dynamics that you could/should consider to obtain a better understanding of the characters. I love the writing so far and am honestly excited to see how this ends.

Michi is portrayed as the "simple" wife. She can support her husband, is diligent about her work, and more. She's normal as you can get which isn't a bad thing at all. She just simply wants to try to enjoy what she has which includes sex while married with someone she likes (or liked in this case due to how it's developing). She finds that solace in Niina who's able to mesh with her very well (and has shown us readers that he's a very capable husband). Unfortunately, it just teeters upon cheating on her own husband.

Youichi/Husband is shown to have developed a deep/severe case of apathy as a self-defense mechanism. When we got his flashback, he's shown to be incredibly simple-minded and is willing to be straight with you/no beating around the bush. For someone who's so used to viewing the world as black-and-white, he can't quite adjust well when someone is trying to throw color in. Ultimately, the story is pointing towards him breaking off the marriage because he was either never interested in the first place, only married out of convenience, or doesn't want to deal with it. While he's acted as a faithless husband, he's pretty pitiful. Of course, this doesn't justify his actions and cheating at all.

Considering the two's dynamic, it looks to be a very dead marriage. The two don't suit each other well.

Now we go on to the next few characters that are introduced.

Mishima is someone who's suffered from a lack of communication and abuse. She's tired of being taken advantage of and just wants things simple if possible (unless I missed something somewhere). This is why Youichi was pretty much a "fresh breath of air" to her. He never showed much of an ulterior motive, and was straight-forward in communicating. She's treated more or less like a complete side-character to add a factor to the main couple's conflict, but maybe we'll see more. She's a solid character for where we currently are in the story. This is where the author is showing that Youichi and Mishima have a pretty good dynamic together. It doesn't necessarily mean they'll be lovers, but can definitely be friends.

Niina is the capable husband, can be loving, but falls out of love if he doesn't receive any back. That's pretty standard. When you're married to someone you love yet they don't reciprocate in some way shape or form, it can get hard since the foundation behind that piece of paper (marriage certificate) is the love between two individuals. You can only give so much love until you run out, especially when you don't get any back. On top of this, he's paired with Kaede who's an extremely independent woman that clearly knows what she wants and works for it. While this isn't a bad thing, it's obvious that she more or less neglected Niina and arguably took advantage of him/took his kindness too lightly. He doesn't mesh with with Kaede, which is why I suppose he went to Michi. They both find solace in each other which is nice but is still wrong since they're both cheating.

Finally we have Kaede, as aforementioned, incredibly ambitious, independent and works hard. However, this mindset has clearly made her tunnel-vision out of control. She realizes late into the game that she neglected her life and that she forgot to separate her work life and personal life. This is further implied in the recent chapter when one of the employees left early and she commented on it. In all truth, the author gave her the short end of the stick. She was not necessarily ready for marriage since she's so work-centric, and she had other goals she wanted to pursue. As much as they may have loved each other back in the past, her marriage with Niina was too soon. Again, she realizes too late and is conflicted because she wants to patch things up, but unfortunately has been too unaware to how many holes there are that the ship has nearly sunk already.

There is no dynamic between the second married couple. As sad as it is, you can tell when Kaede's trying that she realizes her own shortcomings and Niina is yet again reminded of what he has dealt with so far. It's also an essentially dead marriage.

I just find this cast to be beautiful because there's different perspectives coming into play. I'm surprised this series only has the Seinan tag. It should also have a Josei tag since the content of this story is very well-rounded for all audiences.
