Saying that she used him doesn’t feel like the right word’s because you reduce it to a black and white way of thinking. And her situation is bigger than that, he’s teaching her something that she lacks because she was an abandoned child that didn’t know and didn’t experienced love. So more than using him she’s learning about that feeling (love,caring, etc) by experiencing it herself.
It’s an icky feeling though, knowing the other person isn’t sure they like you romantically but still confesses to you. Or maybe she does.
Yeah it gives a weird feeling but I feel that is because her upbringing was weird and emotionally weak.
