This is my theory , I think the emperor fake his injury to get Yeo Dam attention . As we already know the emperor lack common sense before he met yeo dam and Yeo Dam keep mentioning how all the captain and wizard were calm despite the injury of the Emperor when they worship Emperor like a god. The emperor basically grew up not know pain, suffering and was given everything. His possessiveness is really bad to begin with so .
