Amazing world-building and character development. I usually stray away from tragedy, angst, and especially stories of war, but the plot got me so hooked I couldn’t stop reading. The depiction of trauma and resentment was so well-written, and they also took tike with writing a beautiful resolution where I could enjoy reading about their mundane but loving life after finding peace with their situation. Such a gem!! Idk if I can reread this because I don’t wamt to go through Annette’s and Heiner’s pains again, but I bet remembering the beauty of this story will bring me back for sure.

Unfortunately I’m not too into it at this time of my mental state and life. Hopefully my preferences become more flexible soon so I can read this without thinking cringe and holy yap every now and then.
