Because I really don’t remember why he’s gunning for her like this to literally work with a woman who wants to be empress but would also be a terrible empress literally look at her character. But honestly no matter what the explanation is it probably doesn’t make sense.

Exactly, I didn't appreciate the kings guard either in the previous chapter when he was suspicious of her too. Like it just feels like no one gives her authority. It shouldn't matter whether they trust her or not but they should listen to her since she's the empress. She shouldn't have to prove it.
