So he tried ignoring his feelings and move on, that's why he took the idea of dating ririko because she asked him if they wanna date. Also touma didn't know that ririko was in a relationship with him for a week. Technically you could say ririko is at fault because she didn't clarify what she wanted from this relationship with satorou :) I wouldn't really call this messed up tho, there was just a miscommunication (￣∇￣")
