Lol I understand. There's a lot but Mdzs is about the cultivation world as you already know and develops the relationship between the two main characters Wei Wu Xian (WWX) and Lan Wangji (LWJ). WWX is raised by the YunmengJiang sect as his parents died during a night hunt when he was young. There he is raised as a cultivator with the sect leaders children Jiang Cheng and Jiang YanLi. When they are teenagers they are sent to LWJ's GusuLan sect. There they have A LOT of rules and WWX is kinda free spirited so he gets into trouble alot. Anyway's one of his favorite hobbies is annoying LWJ, who at this point really doesn't like him. Yatata WWX is looked down upon for taking care of the innocent Wen clan people who everyone went to war with and then stuff happens and he's blamed, disliked for practicing demonic cultivation and killed. He comes back into this guy Mo XuanYu's body later bc the guy summoned his spirit to take revenge on his terrible family. Then he runs into LWJ who some how knows it's him. Jiang cheng is now trying to find and kill him. More stuff blah blah, they go uncover a deep dark plot that relates to WWX's and other ppls deaths. Oh theres also this one dude who was made into a corse who can think when WWX was alive named Wen Ning. Anyways good guy, he ends up finding his master WWX again and helping WWX and LWJ. Then WWX ends up teasing LWJ with homosexuality stuff bc he wants to make LWJ disgusted by him. Yatata he catches feelings and then later finds out LWJ had actually fallen in love with him long before his death. (LWJ doesn't show much feelings or anything so it would be hard to tell bc his clan is all about self control and he doesn't talk much... just a lot of "mn" s) Back to the topic, they sort everything out and everyone ends up knowing that WWX is back, the 'Yiling Patriarch' (title before he died). Anyways (dang I keep saying that a lot) there is soooo uch stuff going on that it's really difficult to summerize but the novel is really good I highly recommend reading it and if not watching the dongua or kdrama (sadly these two lack the romance romance bc restrctions). There's really a lot going on and it can be very difficult to remember everyone's names so make sure to take your time. Same thing happened to me with the first chapter. I got so bored, so lost, and I honestly almost quit reading it there because it was really kind of exhausting my brain lol.

So I was had a few questions in mind!
1) How does LWJ know that he was reincarnated? Does he tell WWX? When does he find out WWX was reincarnated?
2) How subtle is there realrionship? Do kiss or cuddles? Is their relationship explicitly stated?
3) Is there background info on XuanYu? (Tbh I got super confused on the first chapter bc I thought that WWX wanted revenege and so he got sent to this body)

If you find yourself with a limited attention span I definitely recommend the first season of the anime (donghua technically)! It'll help you get invested enough in the story and then you can start on the manhua/novel. If you're a native English speaker you might have a harder time getting used to the flow of the translated novel, so I'd recommend trying the manhua first.

Im still pretty confused about the episodes for the donghua. On YouTube it seems to go from ep 1-23. I've seen from the comments that I have to sign up on the app? On 9anime, s1 is ep 1-15 and s2 is ep 1-8. It looks as if s1 and 2 are both uploaded on YouTube and I don't have to sign up. (btw if seems as if I got some spoilers, and it looks like my heart is about to ache. Looks like some sad things are gonna come up)

That happens to me too sometimes. It's all good :)
1) LWJ knows that WWX is in Mo XuanYu's body because while fighting this demon statue (sounds funny lol) WWX uses his flute to play a song to fight which happens to be a song that LWJ actually made for WWX when they were teenagers trapped with this giant tortoise and got hurt. Since LWJ and WWX are the only one's to have ever heard the song he knows that Mo XuanYu is WWX.
At first WWX doesn't know that LWJ knows that it's him but he eventually finds out while interacting with him because LWJ seems to be pretty accustomed to his company.
He finds out WWX is reincarnated during the chapter with the statue not only bc of the song but also the fact he's using demonic cultivation.

2) Their relationship is prety subtle in the beginning but bc you get used to the characters behavior it becomes more obvious to the reader and personally I think there are a lot of cute moments. As I said earlier when WWX is first reincarnated he wants to mess with LWJ and make him disgusted by him so that he lets him go his seperate way. This includes trying to sleep on top of him and any form of physical contacts bc he remembers how LWJ hated that when they were younger. When they are younger not much lovey dovey stuff happens but when they are around 18 or basically adults they are on better terms. When WWX goes missing for ex LWJ searches desperately for him which shows that he at least cares for him. Later during a hunting competition LWJ kisses a blindfolded WWX however this is confirmed until near the end of the book. It describes the scene and LWJ being found destroying a tree later said to be bc of how he felt terrible he acted on his desires. At this point tho WWX doesn't have feelings for LWJ but does consider him a really good friend. Only in around the chapter 100 is their relationship confirmed. There are also other really cute scenes when LWJ gets drunk and WWX teases him.

3) When reading I dont remember there being much background on Mo XuanYu other that that he was a bastard child I think and his family treated him horribly. I think there was also some inciddent where he got in trouble for crushing on some cultivator. People just didn't really like him as he was weird and gay.

The reason WWX ends up in Mo XuanYu's body is that XuanYu finally got sick of all the mistreatment and thought WWX was an evil spirit (everyone remembers WWX as being evil though he really isn't) so he used some technique WWX wrote in a book while he was alive to summon him into his body to get revenge on his family. He was supposed to say his wish while preforming the ritual which he forgets to do but luckily WWX knew what he probably wanted and fulfills his wish so that the cuts on his arm go away so that he can fully control the body. (if he didn't fulfill the wish he would too die soon).

Im not sure about having to sign up for anything either but if you found the episodes on youtube then you should be fine. If not there are probably some other websites you may be able to find the episodes for free.
The animations reaches to around chapter 28 of the novel
The manhua pretty much just follows the novel and I haven't seen any key differences

Almost forgot this but the naughty scenes come in chapter 104 I believe and in a bunch of the extra chapters
(although there is one scene where they don't go all the way somewhere in the 90-100s)

S2 of the donghua deviates from the original plot a bit, but it still followed the essential parts of the main storyline. The problem is that it was supposed to run for 15 episodes but got cut to 8, so the writers had to squeeze all that plot into half the amount of screentime. It ended up really rushed and some parts of the plot/the characters' actions just weren't fully explained. It felt like only someone who had already read the original would know what and why everything played out the way they did.

With the novel, you'll probably know what I mean if you read a few chapters, or if you've read translated Chinese light novels before. It's actually pretty well-translated, but the syntax might come across as a little strange. I think this mostly has to do with the fact that Chinese as a language is more flexible with grammar and syntax, so some of the sentence structure follows the flow of the original Chinese rather than English, and it might be disorienting at first. It's grammatically correct, though, and it might have been done to preserve the meaning of the sentence.
Also, the translator does a really good job of explaining all the Chinese terms and cultural references that crop up, but they might leave you scratching your head at first lol. After all, it was originally written for a Chinese audience. There's a reason why translating is so hard haha, so major kudos to the EXR tl team.
