I see a lot of comments saying that God is dumb or their rules are dumb…
But think of it this way: without becoming a priest, would ML have ever become a mage? That was not just God’s prophecy, but also a warning. After pledging himself to God he would later become the very thing that those he wants to help will hate. Perhaps even what the ML himself hates. But does God hate him? I do not believe so. That is God’s irony, but also their favor. In fact, I would argue the ML is loved very much by God. Don’t forget the ML said God is one of amusement. Clearly, God has also been watching him & has a plan for ML. Otherwise, why would God just so happen to be in the sanctuary? Why would God meet with a “sinner”? Give him a chance to be forgiven?
God said they will not meet again; there must be a bigger meaning, or at least God believes they will not need to appear again. Perhaps this is a sign of God’s trust.
But why would God trust ML? Because God gave ML a higher purpose than simply being a high priest. But in order for ML to find that purpose sacrifices had to be made. & what of these sacrifices?
After abuse from the common people, starvation, hatred, doubt, emptiness… ML developed his own spells & went through the ultimate test: after everything, he still loved God & loves the people. He never failed God. So he succeeded in his spell casting, as he said so himself… if he did not have the same prior convictions the spell would not succeed. This is his greatest proof of devotion.
ML was able to create a sanctuary for other lost “sinners” like himself & redefine what it means to be a mage. They protect the people. They are the sole line between humankind & demonkind.
ML was also able to meet the MC, whose holy power did not allow their close relationship, but with the blessing from God were able to confirm their love for each other. MC not only healed his heart, but would be able to later remove the punishment for him. This opportunity is God’s forgiveness, or perhaps even gratitude. This is a sign of reconciliation. You could say it is a sign between God & ML, but you could even say it has an implicit meaning between people & mages. The people will later see God’s example.
A hero is not born overnight. In my opinion this is a well developed progression of ML’s journey & good writing.

Wtf is this? I remember Jaeyoung as being a free willed, outgoing & fun character. Maybe a little horny, but so what? Now… Sangwoo is molding him, like some sort of “build a husband” but instead of bringing out the best in Jaeyoung… he’s absolutely killing his own personality or quirks. I agree on the texting, but it’s the way he continually digs at him like a drill sergeant & emotionally manipulates him. I’m sure there will be improvement here for Sangwoo but it’s all around disappointing me.
I almost wish I hadn’t read the extras. It feels like the happy memories I have with this manhwa have turned into me not liking them together.
