You-chan is getting a lot of hate. I’m not saying that his cheating wasn’t wrong, or that he doesn’t take Michi forgranted a lot... but like.. I don’t think he’s that bad.
Yes, he physically cheated. But he felt terrible afterwards and cut things off immediately. Yes, he should confess and apologise to Michi... but Michi has cheated too. Emotionally cheated and physically chated (though, just a kiss, still cheated. Plus, entertained it for awhile).
For now, let’s just say they cancel each other out on the cheating spectrum.
They’re both, in their own ways, trying to make the relationship work. He’s TRYING to be intimate with her... but sometimes cis men just can’t.
Literally, being erect and being aroused don’t go hand in hand. He can’t perform. He wants to, but he can’t. It’s very mental for the guy. HE CANT WILL HIS DICK TO WORK.
He can’t force himself to desire his wife.
I personally think he did the right thing expresssing himself to Michi. Because if he didn’t say that, she wouldn’t know what he was feeling. She would keep pushing and pushing. A relationship is about TWO PEOPLE and Michi has been deciding all the problems and solutions on her own, whithout really asking You-chan what he thinks or wants. I’m not saying she’s a bad person, (far from it), but at least, now that he’s expressed himself and his thoughts they have an opportunity to talk things out and go forwards (or stop) with the relationship.
He’s obviously okay with never having intercourse again. And she isn’t. That’s okay, but maybe they’re not supposed to be together, and that’s also okay. Either, one has to compromise with the other, or they’re simply not right for each other. That’s fine.
I don’t completely hate anyone in this story, they’re all human and have human faults... no one is completely wrong or right here imo.

Or is it just he got bored of his wife? If he isn't attracted to her anymore like you said is a possibility, he just should divorce her and not make her and himself more miserable. That's what I'm saying, he and Michi should have a discussion about their needs and expectations. Either one of them comprises (Michi agrees no sex, or he agrees to just use his fingers on her lol. Or even have an open relationship where Michi can get her needs filled somewhere else. Those are all very unlikely, but could be solutions for real life couples).
Yeah, I can understand women cheating on their husbands because they dont feel loved... but then shouldnt Michi divorce him before cheating?
Honestly, they should just divorce each other because their needs arent being met, and theh are therefore incompatible. But I dont think one is more 'wrong' than the other

It's a good thing he honestly told Michi what he really feels that's a good step but how can he not tell from those years they've been together that his wife is not good at guessing what the others are feeling without telling her. From the beginning he should have told her already what he wants and nots. Michi also tried hard to loosen him up from the everyday stale vibes he gives off everytime. Yea they should definitely divorce. It’s pretty clear he’s with her out of a sense of duty and guilt and no longer loves her romantically and sexually. He doesn’t desire her. If he even has to try with her but can do it with others his body is telling him the answer on a primal level.

I’m just SO IMPRESSED by the delivery of this story.
Normally, in manga depicting black (especially African) people they’re depicted like a joke.
They’re always seen as savages, have European features/waaaaay overly exaggerated features (except for the skin tone), have no agency over the language, and are generally confused but inticing because of their exoticism.
This story is really impressive. He is drawn with so much care and detail (even his body, isn’t super muscular, but just looks real and normal). And his character seems like a ‘real’ character with dimensions, not just an exotic foreigner lusting over a Japanese. His culture isn’t treated like a joke, and he is written as a kind and intelligent character My only criticism is tha afrotextured hair is NOT like that, lol.
I also apriciate that the author mentioned a LGBTQ movie in Kenya. Though, in reality that movie received much critical acclaim overseas (nominated for an Oscar, I think) it was unfortunately banned in Kenya.
It’s very obvious that a lot of care and detail has gone into this, with a huge deal of respect. We should be holding other manga’s up to this standard.
