nowadays i don't usually bother with european history so i thought u were referring to the holocaust by mistake, but my point still stands. slavic people are still mostly white and the ones trying to "ethnically cleanse them" were still. other white people. it wasn't ever about their race, hence the term "ETHNICAL cleansing". they were dehumanizd because of their ethnic origins.
also through the entirety of this conversation ive been respectful so I'd appreciate it if you show me the same, there's no need to get aggressive because i haven't attacked you once.
ight im done now lmao this webcomic is making us all nuts please take a break everyone oh god

idk how it even came up in the comment section, but it is not a thing. don't worry i will absolutely explain why, so please listen, this is important.
firstly. do not confuse racism with prejudice. the two are SEPERATE. prejudice against white people exists, it absolutely does.
but with BIPOC( Black, Indigenous, People of Color) prejudice against white people does not from a place of ignorance and misguided superiority. ours comes from a place of FEAR and knowledge of the actions of white people against different races throughout history.
BIPOC have never and will NEVER be able to force racist experiences onto a white person. racism is upheld by institutions and structures created BY WHITE PEOPLE, for the sole benefit OF WHITE PEOPLE. there are BENEFITS to racism when you are the oppressor enforcing it. white people cannot suffer from something they BENEFIT from.
ALSO. a white person getting called a cracker is not oppression. there is no historical value to the word cracker. cracker does not categorize white people as subspecies, it does not name them as only 3/5. human. it's intent is to shock white people by putting a negative aspect over the whiteness they get praised for. that's it.
if u have genuine confusion over this, i am absolutely willing to explain, but people need to stop conflating the actions of BIPOC and white people as if they hold the same impact and consequences, because they do NOT.
i, as a black person, will NEVER be in a position where I can use privilege given to me by the system that governs my country to dehumanize white people. that system that upholds racism works for them and ONLY them.

the current situation in the story is beyond disgusting, but this is your daily reminder that you can consume problematic fictional media and still retain a good set of morals when it comes to situations in the real world.

real quick, idk if anyone else is reading the translators notes, but while the person translating does a good job of analyzing all the toxic habits and behaviors of every character, they do this all EXCEPT for minho.
like i sit and i read the notes on dunha and im like "wow, they piece the harmful consequences of her actions so precisely", but then it'll get to a part where minho does something problematic or similar to what insecure men do all the time in real life, like minho's habit for feeling entitled to dunas time, or her whereabouts, or who she hangs out with. and not even just in college back when they were dating, but even presently when they're not even rlly together and he's just like. living in her apartment. and idk, ill look to see if the person translating has a note criticizing minho for basically being the poster boy for toxic masculinity and insecurity in some scenes, because I enjoy all their other critiques about the characters, but it always seems to fall surprisingly short for minho. there's almost zero criticism.
minho will say something sexist or project insecurity in his masculinity onto the people around him, but the person translating doesn't report on the harmfulness in minho's behavior in the same way they do for dunha and haesol and all the other main characters. they bring up a lot of good points, but it's hard to read through them all when I know they aren't showing the same attitude for one character. if you're going to critique the author and the authors characters, make sure you do it equally. it's rlly hard sitting here and reading through some of minhos behavior and there's no think piece from the translator on the severity of his actions. dunha is a vile disgusting character, there's literally no defense for her, she's sick. but the translator needs to realize that minho isn't a character to root for either. for whatever purpose, the author has also made him problematic and also toxic, we need to remember that.
the translator does do an amazing job of rightfully blaming dunha for rape, and criticizing her for not clearly breaking up properly with minho, but I would also like to see the translator shed some light on the fact that minho hasn't been forthcoming with breaking up with dunha either. he's still just as obsessed with her as she is him.
and horrible as dunha is, she was also subject to sexist remarks and pressure from minho during college. minhos insecurity in himself festered into him always shitting on dunhas writing, even while they were dating. he couldn't bring himself to be happy when dunhas writing won that award.
it's blaring clear to everyone reading that the translator favors minhos character, and they even refer to minho as "daddy" in one of the recent updates. translator, if you're reading this, please critique EVERY toxic behavior from EVERY character. just because you're attracted to minhos character doesn't mean he isn't deserving of criticism in some aspects. besides that, thanks for all the critiques and explanations for the harmful and vile behavior the author seems to be romanticizing, there are probably a lot of impressionable readers who need to realize that the behavior in here isn't applicable to real life, and you help with that, so thank you. take some rest, thank you for updating for us, stay safe

I completly agreed, the translator just freaking justified minho beating the shit out of haesol bc "that's what haesol crearly wanted, so he can keep duna's attention" like girl come on, you can actually be writing on every panel about dunna's and haesol's actions and then completly brush or worst justify minho's acction. It makes no sense. It makes you take their other comment as hypocritical

omigod it was literally so jarring reading the notes. like at first I didn't really mind bc I figured they were all frankly pretty fair criticisms. but I also thought the translator would be doing it for ALL the characters and would shove their own bias to the side to educate and warn readers about the abnormal behaviors displayed by the characters. instead I'm just seeing them basically dick ride for minho, like he isn't a good character either lmao please cease this at once

    Yurilover April 7, 2021 5:37 am

    I agree

    Aniel April 7, 2021 7:01 am

I think it can be a result of the story itself. The wrongdoings which happened to Doona are recognized and discussed, Minho's behaviour and actions have visible impact on Doona meanwhile the abuse happening to Minho is treated not seriously, downplayed or even in some twisted way "justified".
So maybe translator tries to balance the story with their commentary idk haha. Just an idea.
