I don't understand why people being shocked bothers you. Warnings or not, these themes were handled incredibly crudely, and it's completely natural for readers to be repulsed.

In my view, relying on vulgar shock value is cheap because the subject matter is already heavy enough. A more subtle, implied approach would have carried actual weight and dignity, rather than leaning into a distasteful, hentai-like aesthetic.

That said, everyone is entitled to their own interpretation, and this comment section exists for exactly that kind of discussion.
