The ml is very abusive, no matter how you look at it, but one thing I don’t see mentioned enough is that, If i recall correctly ( read the novel long ago sorry), ml was abused, tortured, and treated like a literal dog since a child. Would not be a far stretch to assume that bc of this he is mentally ill and disabled.
Of course it does not excuse his poor behavior, but helps to understand why he acts like that. At the end of the day, we all know to differentiate good from bad because we are educated as children, this man not only did not have education, the one that he had was awful and borderline psychotic.

It is just sad. Very sad, when you stop to think that this kind of toxic relationships exist in the real world, and there is not only a few of them. It really hurts my heart to know that there is real people around the world that love someone so much that endure violence, abuse and all kind of shit.
