I feel like people believe that if something or someone is wrong, that gives them the right to act worse. or therefore, it's okay to do something they feel is of the same magnitude or more. (Perhaps subconsciously, perhaps someone else's mistake makes us feel immune, as if nothing we do is wrong, or at least not wrong enough.)
