I'll be honest Im definitely not a fan of the ending. Its basically one of those back to square one. I don't think any of the characters learn any lesson especially Takopi. Like it would be great if Takopi learn more about human emotions and realize some people are just not happy etc but i feel like they never went in depth. And no consequences for the adults too. I know it was probably intentional but i feel like the whole story is pointless if none of the character got any consequences.
It's not really back to square one. Takopi sacrificed himself to save the children who were victims of their own environment. He made their wish come true.
Them "learning a lesson" isn't really the point, but I'd also argue that statement is false, since it's hinted that the protagonists still have memories of Takopi, so I'm sure his existence had an impact on them
Those people on the Internet need to stop mischaracterize this manga saying its about rape and cp. There's so much more depth and an actual layered characters and yes i cried at this chapter.
Okay TBF the rape and cp was like the forefront of the plot and it wouldn't be strange to think the direction of the manga shifted solely because the author matured and got enough backlash to be like woah..
i dont think its because of the backlash, she's just genuinely interested in writing good stuff with depth. it's like this with her other works from the same time period, just not as goofy. you can even see in early chapters from back in 2016, introduction to some character plots that are eventually given more depth as the manga progressed, like with itome showing desire to be monogamous with akemi and having half a page of his face to focus on how he felt in chapter 5. call me a d rider but that's taking a lot of credit from ogeretsu tanaka.
Yeah that's what Im thinking, I phrased it off but I feel like as she matured she may have genuinely shifted to wanting to make this an actual story but she started off as just making quick slop for fun
That's exactly the point i was highlighting with my examples, i don't think it's slop. It's a whacky introduction for goofy characters that were meant, *from the start*, to be further developped in later chapters.
Now I can't know how far she meant for this to continue at this point nor how much of it she planned, but it's clear there was setup from the start. Another example, aside from itome, would be shikatani looking at a letter in chapter 5. We find out in chapter chapter 16.2, that this was from "shou-chan," his ex-friend he had a crush on and who hurt him. Thus allowing for the author to dig more into his thoughts.
If that's not convinving enough. She has work earlier than yaribu that would maybe be considered more "mature." Allat to say: I don't think you're giving her enough credit.
U right, it started very unserious but the plot setups were kinda peak and I fw her writing heavy
