At first I could see the confusion, but once they show their backstory, and pressures, insecurities we see how they ended up hurting each other out of fear of being the one hurt. Once they figured all that out and both took the time to themselves to heal, they were able to overcome that.

Yes they relationship was unhealthy but it’s was just for protecting each other, and they were not able to be honest with their feeling, specially Heasoo Taku and heasoo would never worked, the love taku has for heasoo was absolutely not healthy, and we know that heasoo can’t be with someone if it’s not joowon right ? Same for Joowon Everytime heasoo was with Taku, he was always thinking of joowon
