If you’re a virgin and someone tells you that you have a child, not only will you be in denial but you also didn’t even prepare to be a parent. It’s understandable why he’s acting awkward around her. Also he tried to find out if his father did something but he didn’t find any evidence of that, so that didn’t make sense either. He doesn’t have siblings and his sword that could confirm for him isn’t even responding to him. He doesn’t know how to be a parent and there is no “I’m always right” complex here because technically he should be right.
