I don’t think this is necessarily him giving his dad a second chance, if anything he would love it if his dad just disappeared again. He just doesn’t know how to push him away, and he doesn’t know how to let others in to help him. Therefore he lets his dad stay with him and he pushes Si-hwa away; because again, that’s all he knows how to do.
