Well... I saw somebody saying that in the novel Shinje wasn't this much of a bastard. I would like to know if this is true, because reading it is being painful and I want to know if this story was meant to be this way.
He is just as bad if not even worse in the novel. The novel is just incredibly written with beautiful prose, and you get to see his thoughts and POV. After that, it’s kind of hard to hate him. You just realize everyone in this story’s world is broken so the possibility of a sweet fluffy relationship or redemption is impossible
meh, just quite equally bad or if not, much more. the story is not necessarily going to have the happy ending (as we all can conclude from the chaps) so it's really not a story to read if you're looking forward to that.
