Good stories and original concepts ask a lot of work, researchs and imagination... That asks qualities in writing and knowledges that surely BL authors don't have and don't bother to acquire furthermore. Btw in that genre authors beneficy of more freedom than in others (shonen, seinen...) where the requirements specification is exigeant, that can explain why little efforts are spent in writing BL.
Many Yaoi are just plain porn, many have plots that are far-fecthed and that excuse of these being fictions doesn't help to produce better contents. Young generations of authors will continue this trend cause many grew reading yaoi with terrible plots.
"Good storylines" also means less place for smut scenes. In a genre where these latters are prevalent and romance passes to second (if there's any), authors must think writing a good plot isn't the most important (〜￣△￣)〜
