no I think he made the nail polish to cover the black/rotten nails not sure but I think it's either a symptom of some illness of his or as you assumed he's being poisoned cuz at the end of the chapter the empress said he made the whole nail polish thing for himself
It could be true that he wants to hide the fact. Kinda funny though that rumours about him spreading isn't that he paints his nail or rather made it but totally different scandalous one.
yeah like you dk how much the gears in my head were turning after that zoom in to his nails like what's the relation to his marriage talk n the rumors yk at first I thought maybe the empress's maid who is a nail artist was his lover maybe then at the end when they showed his black nails it made sense idk all theories till now tho
