based on prologue the duke is most likely the main li, which i hate it cause it’s already chapter 50+ and so far he’s got the LEAST chemistry with mc imo ;—; i want johan to be the endgame (he has the most interesting background and lore for me) but i’ll be fine with the crown prince cause at least his character is different from other cold city namja mls out there and he got decent chemistry + screentime with mc. the duke on the other hand…..
maybe cause we haven’t seen much about his character background too but well, IF he’s really the endgame i hope the author will make him get deeper writing and decent reasons for mc to end up choosing him otherwise it’ll be another slop :/

what do yall expect rine to do? tell tarkan to keep looking for that girl and that if he ever finds her she’ll welcome her as his mistress with an open arms..???

after all that back and forth the author tried to polish it with “well all of that is part of the duke’s plan” and yeah i’m not buying that lmao.
even if that’s the case (which screams bad writing) it doesn’t change the fact that at the end of the day everything still happened cause fl and her self centered behavior. she’s not selfish, yes. if anything she’s selfless but in a stupid way. she tends to think that only her can protect the duke’s family, which also shows how little she thinks of the duke and the knights. also doesn’t change the fact that she ALWAYS makes decisions without considering larcias and hiru’s feelings and NEVER tries to communicate things properly. which she herself is aware at the very least, thank god cause if she isn’t i’ll isekaid and slap her face myself (only once cause i don’t want to lose my life).
and guess what? despite all that talks about her protecting everyone, she ended up doing nothing but creating more problems lmao. she’s still so weak (physically and mentally) to the very end. larcias and the knights (also honorable mention our mvp hiru) ended up doing all the work. well good for you ended up being a queen without making any contribution except making bad choices and being tossed left and right, i’m so happy for you!! /s
fl keeps getting on my nerves with her indecisive behavior. she’s so set on “ml is just being nice to me cause i’m useful for him, he’s not interested in women anyway” even after knowing that NO not everything she read in the novel is exactly as it is. her going back and forth is so frustrating to read and she rarely considers his feelings. no i’m not asking her to babysit him or anything but the LEAST you can do is HEAR HIM OUT for once and fuckin communicate.
also i expected more interactions between stepmom and son (as the title literally says STEPMOTHER) but it’s more about her typical shoujo love life and 1038393 men around her.
glad i decided to keep reading cause it gets better after those frustrating chapters earlier. for me the plotline is not the best but not the worst either. the ml sometimes still acts like spineless hamster and the fl is still a pushover but not to the point ‘til i want to drop this one. i hate that they didn’t punish the emperor and the high priest fairly and just let them be after putting many of other people’s lives on threat but well, i guess the writer wanted to keep this as fairy tale like as posible :]
still a good read though, if you’re looking for a childcare story with more depth between their family relationship instead of political issues then give it a try!
leona and rere’s interactions are soooo cute but that fuckass of deadbeat father makes it so hard to continue reading this. like this man seriously lacks braincells or something. as if chasing off the one and only person who your daughter trusted AND the one who cherished her back will solve the problems. this stupid spineless bitch really has the talent of blindly trusting bad people (like the emperor, that other duke, and the so called soon to be wife who he knows mistreated his daughter more than once) and chasing good people off.
also i get she’s coming back cause she’s worried about rere but i hope she won’t just brush it off just because the ‘he doesn’t know how to act properly :(‘ bullshit.

i really want luka as the ml but it seems like he’s just ml’s other personality or something if i guess correctly based on the hints, which makes things worse cause i love luka and i definitely hate that bundle of sperms ugh.
