To think I was in the millimeter of missing this wonderful gem!
I thought it would be your standard stupid story but it was so well-written and drawn! The jokes are hilarious, the art is wonderful, the cliche situations are handled skilfully. And the ending is pure bliss so heartwarming.
But…
I came here from Banana scandal where the second part of the story about the secondary couple was an absolute masterpiece, and the comments said that this story is the same. But unfortunately it’s not.
The second couple really needed some more consideration and work, their ending feels forced and confusing thus leading to misunderstandings and hate towards one of the characters.
So no, this story’s center and highlight is the first couple, and their story is great.
I’ve read the comments, and thought this manga is an example of disgusting grooming of an underage high school boy.
But in the end it was way healthier than comments made it look. Yeah, ten years is a big age difference, especially when the younger one had just started being legally adult but there was nothing disgusting about their relationship.
And Hoshina tried his best to distance himself and behave like an adult too.
So don’t be too afraid to read this story. It’s totally okay from a legal point of view. And a little bit questionable from the point of human ethics but not as much as people saying it is.
Were Maki’s parents living under a rock their whole lives? Most of the most famous and top-tier confectioners, patissiers and chefs were men, for God’s sake!
Even in Japanese izakayas chefs are mostly men.
