I wouldn’t describe it as Stockholm syndrome (which doesn’t even exist). I’ve read the novel and the best way to describe his condition is extreme PTSD that has manifested as hypersexuality. His ptsd has made him so dependent on Juyeon by the end of all this that he can’t even tell what’s real and what isn’t. His mental health is extremely damaged and Juyeon, even though he has given him medicine for it, doesn’t want to do more than that cause he could get in trouble for it. The ending is awful, not because it’s toxic (which it is), but because it just ends. Like there’s no character development beyond them just being mentally ill. They have no self reflection and they have no actual dialogue about the past, it’s just Jiwook remembering and every time something happens it’s just him saying sorry to Juyeon over and over again. SPOILER: there’s a scene where Juyeon abandons Jiwook in the college campus bathroom with vibrators etc and is found by other college students (amongst them Suhyeok) and Jiwook is ok with that cause he did the same thing to Juyeon when he was in High school. Like yeah it’s bad you did that but you don’t deserve it either? And Juyeon will only make it worse by accusing Jiwook of doing it to him, only he’s a savior cause he didn’t actually abandon Jiwook and came back unlike Jiwook who left him to be found by the schools janitor.
