People are getting mad about the biphobia but it's actually kinda realistic, many gay men and women often refuse to go out with bi people bc of a plethora of reasons. Myb they're scared or had a bad experience or are just not into people who are into both sexes. Yes it's bad but not like it's mentioned for the sole purpose of bashing bi people, the story is about two gay men and how they meet and that's it.
Yeah, I can confirm this as well. As a straight woman who is active in the lgbtq+ crowd in her city, the majority of gay men I meet and know are not the biggest fans of bisexual ones. Quoting one friend of mine, "if your bish ass wants the best of both worlds, you can go".

Gay people don't see every man as attractive just because they're men, they could have certain things that don't make them attractive. That's like if someone didn't like people romantically who get a tattoo, even if they liked their gender, is it being discriminating to people who choose to get tattoos? Nah they just don't like tattoos. They didn't even say negative about them, just that they wouldn't like them as a partner. Personally, I feel like this is the case. The connection just isn't really as there, but probably not for everyone ofc.

I wasn't defending biphobia or what my friend said, I was just stating that it is in fact pretty common in the gay community. And I wouldn't say it's a lack of attraction for bi people, but more the concern of having to worry about both genders and the idea of being left for the opposite. Especially as a gay man who cannot offer many things that a "man and woman" relationship can have naturally. I will say though that I do think it is a very understandable fear to have, ESPECIALLY if it's something they've already experienced once or twice because obviously anyone is going to be wary of a similar situation to one that has hurt them before.
