in the novel she doesn't use the hourglass since it's a bit far from her
instead, the bracelet (from the crown prince) actually had some bit of magic in it. when it was ripped by mielle, the bracelet breaks and a "signal" was sent by the crown prince. cp then immediately goes to save aria using his teleportation. after that, they escape the crime scene, leaving mielle confused
