Someone said it better and more precisely in the topic below me (chocobuun) but I'd also like to add that I'm sure even the author realised how much people like the second couple more than the first - I mean for them to have nearly three seasons abt them (considering they already appear considerably often in first season), I'd say even the author likes them better (an opinion).
If manhwa BL is still a new hot thing, sure people would dig for the first couple because... well it's new. Niche. But with the abundance of BL nowadays, which means more 'veteran' BL readers. And most of us just seek for rare couples like Rakhyun and Eunho. I'm not generalizing here but from my pov, twink protagonists are lowkey getting less desirable among readers. I mean, with the popularity of manhwas like Passion, Codename Anastasia etc (I just returned to my holy grail of BLs, sorry for not remembering other titles ahem), it's clear what's more 'in demand' now. Well I didn't really check to see when the first season was created but regardless, we're talking abt the present readers' preference/favourites which are the second couple.
So again, like chocobuun said, drawing out conclusions like it's the non-consentuality of 2nd people that draws people in - no man, it's literally just the characters and their dynamic itself. Because romanticization of rape exists in way too many BLs that unfortunately, it's like whatever now, it's not the reason people would dig for a couple. Personally, I like the 2nd couple because I've always had a thing for violent bratty tall delinquent looking characters that are younger than their partner (may I recommend my ult representation Tiger and the Tiger Gourd?) In fact, I wish there are more stories with protagonists like Rakhyun (well get rid of his criminal attempts and doings smh).

Took me three times rereading this to finally understand wtf is going on w the yakuza plotline. Not completely but mostly. I first read this years ago and really liked Roku/Yu part, hence I went looking for this manga again just to reread their part - only to realise maybe they are indeed mid couple because I got a lot more interested in the dynamic between the brothers instead. Regardless, I wouldn't say it's one of the best manga I've read. The relationship dynamic was something but the execution, not as much.. Maybe if the story took place in an earlier timeline so it's more them centric, in compared to a bunch of yakuza sub plots (or main plot... debatable)
this trope should be much much more popular than those typical "mc in debt and stuck w some mafia gang member for life". I swear I see more of these in light novels but not a lot have been adapted into manhwa :(( Other than this, there's like only one finished manhwa with this trope lol. Mistakenly saving the villain - a system assigns mc to save the tragic bottom from being a sex slave in a novel, but mistakenly saves ANOTHER person instead (the villain in the novel). Mc treats the ml like a proper human being while the ml has trust issues after being subjected to decades of literal torture and sexual abuse. It’s kinda dark but it’s basically how to heal a yandere LOL
If You Don’t Become the Main Character, You’ll Die - this one is actually Korean, the male lead is more of an protagonist of an action novel (cough orv cough) rather than romance and mc has special 4th wall powers and casually talks to the authors and have really fun existential crises while realizing that everything isn’t real. I really do recommend this one
My Boyfriend Is the Heartthrob, and I’m Just a Passerby - mc knows that hes in a novel, and is the boyfriend of an absolute beauty that everyone can’t help but stare and drool at, and hes just the disposal bf before the real mls start to chase the novel mc. But it’s horror.

I thought I hated slow burn (well i dont know if this is one of them but I hope it is so that the chapters will take much longer before Hanjun even feels more than comfortable to let Yujae buy something for him) - that is until I actually digest this one now that it has 50+ chapters. Because the slow burn is actually natural, turns out all the ones I've read that I hated majority of the times - were just too forced. Like what the hell do you mean y'all are purposely avoiding each other ALL THE TIME. These two though? It's so weird ig for average people how some days they act so close w each other but the next, one snaps at the other and they ignore each other - and returns back to the former like a cycle. But I think we should all remember that they're originally best friends. Not some close friend, not some co-worker or shit but genuine best friends who've seen each other's worst and best moments and stayed. So I do love slow burn, these crazy luxury we get when they kiss for a moment not knowing when we'll get another - but most out there are just terribly done so this definitely opened my eyes on good slow burn story.
It makes me realise that stories these days are so fast paced with how quick they're fucking each other and really tends to do a huge time skip like 2 years later, 5 years later or worse 10 years later. Yall take your time, w how good the story is progressing, I wouldn't even mind if it'd take another hundred chapters before yall finally start getting down w it.

Reading a BL with this much fem characters and all of them have personalities... I feel like an abused victorian child suddenly being showed what love is. I was wondering why it feels so different. That's why it feels different. I can't predict what's going to happen next at all. I think I know what the ending will be anyways but damn, I can't stop reading it. When was the last time a BL was this unpredictable and not in a nonsense way? I thought I've returned to a time when I first discovered BL. Like when I thought the professor was gonna be one of the lead like how it usually goes, cliche. But then that boy showed up and I was so surprised by that. Oh so it's not like that, I thought. Man. This brings back how the popular BLs used to be years ago (corny ahh talk), none of those fast-paced, cliche with poorly written characters and 0 female characters like authors just straight up hate them.
I'm not gonna go all my way to say it's the best I've read but it is undeniably written with thoughts and care. Also, protagonist has a rare appearance; not a twink nor macho black haired character (those are becoming a trend). It's like a breath of fresh air, I mean how many protagonists look like Jooin? Exactly. Wah, to be honest, I really love this and is curious to read what others think but I don't want to accidentally spoil myself the ending since apparently it's a novel adapation. I'll just wait for the ending patiently.
