I THINK this is what happening plot wise for anyone confused:
Mc was a "whore" who was selling himself to the king, his son and other knights were also part of that, Mc sent mars away in a country far away whether he knew he was going to become a political hostage or not is not known but he does feel guilty so the king mostly likely manipulated the situation anyways years later the country is going to shit rebels are growing and Mc is desperate for it to sto he made a deal with one of the king subordinates tldr the deal was "i want to help his country so ill stage a coup go kill the king and ill send with you " instead the subordinates doubles crosses him and frames him as a traitor mars saves him and make him his knight, the king son which hasnt been killed somehow?!??!?! Tells Mc to kill the mars so the queen lives, i dont think the Mc is currently following this plan but we still dont know
